Spark Takeoff — Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Spark Takeoff handles information in the app. Spark Takeoff is an independently published, offline-first electrical estimating and takeoff planning aid. The current build does not require an account and does not include advertising or analytics SDKs.

1. Information stored on your device

Job and estimate information is stored on the device where you use the app. This can include job names, addresses, notes, calculations, material orders, labor settings, photos or plan images you select, drawing drafts, markup, exports, private labor-library CSV rows, and attached PDF reference metadata. The app uses browser-style local storage and IndexedDB inside the app. Spark Takeoff does not receive this local data as part of the core offline workflow.

2. Optional features that send information

• AI Layout Generator, Scenario Estimator, and lien completeness review: When you choose an AI action, the selected job context, selected images, scenario facts, or selected payment/retainage/lien fields are sent over HTTPS to the Spark Takeoff AI proxy hosted on the configured service account. The proxy forwards the request to OpenAI for processing and does not intentionally store prompts, photos, payment records, or lien records. The OpenAI secret is held on the server and is not placed in the browser or Android app. OpenAI's handling is described in its privacy policy.
• Scenario labor reference: If you explicitly enable the private labor-library option for a scenario, matching CSV labor rows may be sent with that scenario request through the proxy. Attached PDF reference files are not sent by the current build. Do not import or transmit material unless you are authorized to do so and have reviewed the provider's terms.
• Cloud Sync: If you configure Firebase or Supabase, the app sends the estimate data you choose to your configured project through that provider's REST API. The provider credentials are saved locally so the feature can reconnect. You are responsible for the project's access rules, retention, and deletion settings. Review Firebase privacy information or Supabase privacy information.
• Voice-to-text: When you use voice input, the device/browser speech-recognition service may process audio or text according to that provider's terms. Spark Takeoff receives the resulting transcription to place in your job notes; it does not operate a separate speech server.
• Network access: Network access is used only when you choose an optional online feature, open an external link, or otherwise use a device-provided service. Core estimates remain available offline.

3. Photos, files, and permissions

The app only receives a photo, CSV, or PDF that you actively choose through the device file picker or a supported device feature. Selected photos and plan images are stored locally for the job unless you explicitly include one in an optional AI request or configured sync. Labor-library rows remain local unless you explicitly enable the scenario AI option or the labor-library cloud-sync option. Payment, retainage, and lien fields remain local unless you explicitly request the optional AI completeness review or configured sync. The app does not continuously access the camera, microphone, contacts, or location.

4. Sharing, sale, and advertising

Spark Takeoff does not sell or rent app data and the current build does not use advertising, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics. Optional third-party services are initiated by you and are governed by their own policies and your configuration.

5. Retention and deletion

Local job data remains on the device until you export it, remove it through the device's app/browser storage controls, uninstall the app, or otherwise clear its storage. Before clearing storage, export any estimate you need to keep. If you configured Firebase or Supabase, delete synced records from that project as well. Because the current build does not create Spark Takeoff user accounts, there is no account profile for us to delete.

6. Security and limitations

Device storage and optional cloud services have their own security controls. Protect the device, exported files, API keys, and cloud-project credentials. Do not place confidential information into an optional third-party service unless you have reviewed its terms and are authorized to do so. Spark Takeoff is a planning aid; it does not replace a licensed professional's review, stamped design, adopted-code research, AHJ direction, or manufacturer instructions.

7. Children

Spark Takeoff is intended for professional contractors and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes

We may update this policy when the app's data practices change. The revision date above will be updated with a new version.
